She is a proud naturalista herself; and through her poetry and public speaking events, she has often talked about how she "freed her hair and found her sovereignty" at age 16 when she no longer had a desire to chemically process her hair anymore. Today, she encourages other young black women, girls, and men to love who they are fully, without feeling the need to conform to societal standards or workplace standards of what's considered beautiful or acceptable.
